Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you know all about the Chilean miners ordeal and their dramatic rescue yesterday. The media coverage of this has been amazing. And yesterday’s dramatic rescue made for great TV.
When the miners arrived top side, they did so as instant celebrities. They were showered with gifts, given all expense paid vacations, invited to dignitary dinners in their honor and the book, movie and TV deals are already in the works.
Everyone in the world wanted to and still want to know who these men were, what the ordeal was like and what’s next for them. One day your trapped in a mine the next day your an international superstar.
Celebrity rules. Pure and simple.
Anyone who can harness the power of celebrity will enjoy great wealth and success… if they do it right.
If you are in the business of marketing, you should be working over time to build your own celebrity. There are no two ways about it.
Take two identical people. They look exactly alike. They sell the exact same thing. Their marketing looks exactly the same.
If one of those people was busy working like normal while the other was trapped in the Chilean mine, guess who’s selling more stuff today? A LOT more stuff.
This is not to say you should go get yourself trapped in a mine. But you should be working on your celebrity.

Go get started today. Write for your blog, write articles, host calls and webinars. A great way is to carry around a Flip Video camera and just film yourself. Talk about what you know. Teach, entertain and engage people.
You have to keep at it and be prolific. You’d be amazed at what you can accomplish with just a little effort.
